New Hartford is a town positioned in central New York. It is located about 50 miles east of Syracuse and 100 miles west of Albany. New Hartford is the 3rd largest city located in Oneida County. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were approximately 22,166 people living in New Hartford in 2010.
If it were not for a generous act by Mr. Morgan Butler, it is possible New Hartford would not exist. In 1890, Mr. Butler built Butler Memorial Hall and donated the building to house municipal government and public activities. Butler Hall has been used in many ways since 1890 including the home of a U.S. Post Office, New Hartford Historical Society, and bowling alleys. Today, the Village and Town of New Hartford municipal offices are housed in Butler Hall. Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Butler, New Hartford has developed to become a beautiful and successful village.
